The project began with a preliminary landscape and visual appraisal, informing an approach that is focused on preserving and enhancing the site’s natural character while integrating new development sensitively.  The study included a review of landscape designations, local landscape character, appraisal of the visual envelop and a review of the historic evolution of the village in relation to its countryside setting.
The design retains and enhances mature trees, hedgerows and woodland edges, introduces new community green spaces, woodland planting and ecological corridors, and integrated SuDS features within a broad landscape buffer. The strategy provides visual mitigation, identified through detailed visual assessment, strengthens biodiversity and creates a distinctive village-edge landscape that responds positively to local character and setting.
