Landscape and Visual Appraisal prepared to support the promotion of land at Lambsgreen Lane through the Dorset Local Plan consultation process.
The study assessed landscape character, visual sensitivity, Green Belt context and development capacity. The appraisal identified a landscape influenced by the transition between the existing urban edge and the surrounding Rolling Wooded Pasture character area, defined by mature boundary trees, hedgerows, pastoral land and historic lanes. Detailed analysis indicated that the site is well related to the existing settlement pattern, with a limited visual envelope.
A landscape-led strategy was identified, centred on retaining mature trees and hedgerows, strengthening ecological connectivity, protecting key views and creating a robust landscape framework to integrate future development within the existing settlement edge
