The site is located within the hamlet of Stoke Wake, beneath Bulbarrow Hill in the Dorset National Landscape. The proposed ground-mounted solar array provides a small-scale source of renewable energy for the Manor and associated buildings, supporting the Estate's long-term sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
A discreet location for the solar installation was identified through detailed Landscape and Visual AppraisalĀ (LVA) to minimise effects on nearby heritage assets, including Grade II* Listed Buildings, and the highly sensitive escarpment landscape. Using LVIA as an iterative design tool, supported by photomontage visualisations, the siting, layout and detailed arrangement were refined to ensure a landscape-led design solution that balances renewable energy generation with the conservation of landscape character, visual amenity and heritage significance within this protected setting.
